Santo Niño Group

ninoThe Santo Niño Group is a religious and socio-cultural group that aims to promote the devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague and the Blessed Virgin Mary among the Filipino-American families by devotional prayers and the rosary. As part of the Filipino tradition, the feast is normally celebrated during the month of January.

DEVOTION TO THE CHILD JESUS

The devotion to the Child Jesus is devotion to God-made-man, born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem. The greatness of God manifested in the humble humility of the Child Jesus had nourished the lives of great saints and mystics like Francis of Assisi, Anthony of Padua, Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, also known as St. Therese of the Child Jesus, famous for her “little way” of spirituality. Teresa of Avila, also known as Santa Teresa de Jesus, emphasized this devotion to the Child Jesus expressive of the humanness of God’s infinite greatness and goodness as a way to nurture our proper relationship with God, our creator and His creation. These spiritual values are best made visible in the image of Santo Nino dressed as a King with the globe resting on his left hand, while His right hand is up raised in blessing.
