SAINT DOMINIC ROSARY
MAKERS
Who We Are
The St. Dominic's Rosary Maker's was started about 19 years ago by a
group of our church members. These persons wanted a way to spread
the rosary for our Blessed Mother Mary and Her Son. Our anniversary
is celebrated at the October meeting.
These members chose the the group name in honor of St. Dominic, who
was a fervent and compelling preacher of the importance and value of
praying the rosary.
St. Dominic and Our Lady
It was over 500 years ago that the Holy Church commissioned St.
Dominic to established the Confraternity of the Rosary in the Church
of St. Sixtus in Rome. Pope Alexander VI in 1495, addressed St.
Dominic as "the renowned preacher long ago of the Confraternity of
the Rosary, and through his merits, the whole world was preserved
from universal ruin."
Our Activities
Our Lady and the Mysteries
Our meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.
and last about one hour. The rosaries the members have made during
the month are collected at this time for mailing.
We also teach interested parishioners to make the rosaries in cord
or metal at this time. Though we have helped teach some at home when
arranged.
The group members pay for the materials they use to make the mission
rosaries the we send to places around the world.
Our hand worked rosaries have been sent to places such as the
Philippines, Southern Africa, South America and Mexico. In our small
way we make it possible for those who would not be able to purchase
a rosary to receive one to use in their daily lives.
We also put together Brown Scapulars for the distribution to and
investment of parishioners at the Mass on August 15?
At least four times a year we do a Bake Sale to raise money to help
pay for the postage for the mailing of the mission rosaries and the
purchase of the materials for the Brown Scapulars.

The Rosary and the Brown Scapular
Our Lady with the Rosary and the Brown Scapular
The Rosary - In the past as well as in recent times the Mother of
God has appeared in various parts of the world and asked for the
recitation of the Rosary, the prayer she gave to the world. It is
her favorite prayer for it is essentially a meditation on the life
of her Divine Son. The Rosary is a combination of vocal prayer (the
Our Fathers & Hail Marys) and of mental prayer, namely, reflection
on important events in the life of Christ and His Mother.
When one refers to the Rosary, it is usually understood to mean five
decades, or one third of the entire Rosary. While many Catholics
pray five decades of the Rosary each day, there is a considerable
number who pray the fifteen decades daily.
Anyone can SAY the Rosary; we are asked to PRAY the Rosary.
What we put into it, is what we will get out of it, with the grace
of God and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. The Mysteries of
the Rosary are the lessons of the Life, Passion, Death and
Resurrection of Jesus Christ Himself - and that is one lesson we
cannot afford to miss.
Mary Immaculate, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.
The Brown Scapular - The Brown Scapular is the tiny replica of the
scapular or wool garment worn by the Carmelite Order of Nuns. The
Scapular is a brown wool garment open at the sides and held together
at the shoulder by straps. It is worn next to the skin as a means of
penance and reparation.
The tiny replica of this garment is a little brown wool square on
each side,
front and back, held together by narrow straps. It can be made or
purchased for a few cents. Mary asks you to wear it as a sign of
penance and reparation for sin.
How To Pray The Rosary
1.Make the Sign of the Cross and say the "Apostle's Creed."
2.Say the "Our Father."
3.Say three "Hail Marys."
4.Say the "Glory be to the Father."
5.Announce the First Mystery; then say the "Our Father."
6.Say ten "Hail Marys," while meditating on the Mystery.
7.Say the "Glory be to the Father."
8.Announce the Second Mystery; then say the "Our Father." Repeat 6
and 7 and continue with Third, Fourth and Fifth Mysteries in the
same manner.
After the last decade is said:
HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our
hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do
we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy
womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
For the intentions of the Holy Father, one may recite at the end of
the Rosary one "Our Father", one "Hail Mary", and one "Glory Be".
The Sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit. Amen
The Apostles' Creed: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator
of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He decended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the
Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and
the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the
communion of saints, the forgivness of sins, the resurrection of the
body, and life everlasting. Amen
The Our Father: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy
name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us
not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death. Amen
Glory Be to the Father: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and
to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall
be, world without end. Amen.
