The Catechist
“Proclaimer of God’s Word”

The Catechist perceives a call to follow Jesus and in answering that call assumes an important role in the Catechetical Ministry of the Church The Catechist to be effective minister needs to know himself or herself, his or her students’ individual personality and the world in which he or she lives. He or she must have a growing relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ and must develop certain skills and competence to teach and proclaim the Word of God.

The Skills
A strong awareness of the working of God’s grace in their lives and a growing faith –life in response to that grace. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ, who is the center of the message.

A strong understanding of and love for the Church, evidenced by a personal commitment to:

a. catechize within the Roman Catholic Church tradition, in light of Vatican II and post-conciliar documents and according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church;

b. participate actively and regularly in the Church’s liturgical and sacramental life;

c. deepen an active prayer life;

d. respect the diversity of culture;

e. serve with dedication.

An ability to appreciate different types and stages of individual growth and development. An ability to communicate effectively with the students to be catechized. A willingness to be certified and to continue his or her own religious education and formation.

The Responsibilities
Preview the textbook(s) at the beginning of the session/semester/or term. Acquaint with the content covered on the various grade levels according to the scope and sequence chart of the series to be used.

Prepare an overall lesson plan so that supplies can be requisitioned and audio-visuals can be reserved.

Study the teacher’s manual in preparation for each session. Provide arts and crafts projects, suitable to the grade level, to integrate the learning process. Reinforce the materials taught with audio-visuals and other methodology. Encourage class discussion to articulate students thoughts and feelings about the topic(s) covered. Maintain order in a relaxed atmosphere so that learning can take place.Keep order in the classroom and students must not be left alone in the classroom at any time. Attend catechist’s in-service training provided by the Catechetical Center. TOP

El Catequista
“Proclaimador de la Palabra de Dios”
El Atcequista percibe un llamado a seguir a Jesus y al responder a ese llamda toma un importante papel en el Minesterio Catequitico de la Iglesia. El Catequista para ser ministro efectivo necesita conocerse el misomo o ella misma, la personalidad individual de sus estudiantes y el mundo en el cual el o ella vive. Tambien debe tener una creciente relacion y compromiso a Jesuscristo y debe desrrolar cierto connocimiento practico y competencia para esenar y proclamar la Palabra de Dios.

Hablidades
Una fuerte percepcion de la gracia de Dios trabajando en sus vidas y una creciente vida de fe en respuesta a esa gracia. Un Compromiso personal a Jesuscristo, quien es el centro de el mensaje.

Un fuerte comprension yu amor por la Iglesia evidente por un compromiso personal para:

a. Catequijar dentra de la tradicion de la Iglesia Catolica Romana ebn vista del Vatican II y los documentos despues del concilio y de acuerdo al Catecismo de la Iglesia Catolica;

b. Participar activamente y regularmente en la vida liturgica y sacamental de las Iglesia;

c. Profundizar una vida activa de oracion;

d. Respetar la diversidad de culturas;

e. Servir con dedicacion.

Hablidad para apreciar diferentes tipos y etapas de desrrollo y crecimiento individual. Una hablidad para comunicarse efectivamente con los estudiantes para ser catequizados. Un abuena disposicion para estar certicado(a) y continuar su propia formacion y educacion religiosa.

Las responsablidades
Ver previamente los libros de texta al principio de las sesion/semestre/o termino. Tener conocimiento con el contenido que cubren los varios niveles de grado de acauerdo con el objeto y sucesion de las series que van ha ser usadas. Preparar un plan de leccion para que los matales puedoan ser adquiridos y audio-visuales puedan ser resrvados. Estudiar el guia del maestro en praparacion para cada sesion. Proveer proyectos de arte y artesania apopiados segun el nivel de grado, pra integrar el proceso de aprendizaje.

Reinforzar los materiales de ensenanza con audio-visuales y otra metodologia. Animar discusion de clase para articular los pensamientos y sentimientos de los estudiates acerca del tema(as) cubiertos. Montener orden en una atmosfera tranquila para que el aprendizaje pueda ser aprovechado. Montener orden en el salon de clase y en ningun estudiantes en el salon de clase. Asistir a sesiones-entrenamiento para catequistas proporcionadas por el Centro Catequetico. TOP
